I've been getting into a lot of Trevor Horn's music recently. I thought I'd share a slice of his work.

When I had listened to these tracks individually, I didn't recognize his influence in them. However, when they're all together like this in the same context, the similarities are fairly obvious.

1 "Video Killed The Radio Star" - The Buggles [The Age Of Plastic] [1979]
Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes are The Buggles. Trevor sings.
2 "White Car" - Yes [Drama] [1980]
From the Yes album in which Trevor fronted the band. This is one of his compositions as well.
3 "I Am A Camera (extended single)" - The Buggles [Adventures In Modern Recording] [1981]
This is a Buggles remake of a Yes tune, also on "Drama". It's a lot more electronic than the Yes counterpart.
4 "Poison Arrow" - ABC [1982]
Trevor produced this track for ABC
5 "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" - Yes [90125] [1983]
After Jon Anderson came back into Yes, Trevor moved into role of producer. You can hear his use of samplers and such on this track.
6 "Owner Of A Lonely Heart (extended remix) (excerpt)" - Yes [90125] [1983]
This 10 minute extended version was shortened down extensively, just to show where his Art Of Noise project came from. JJ and Anne also worked with Yes at this time... the core of AON.
7 "Beat Box (Diversion 0)" - Art Of Noise [Into Battle] [1983]
This is the version of this track that only appeared on early versions of "Into Battle".
8 "Two Tribes" - Frankie Goes To Hollywood [Welcome To The Pleasuredome] [1984]
Another of Trevor's producer credits. If you listen, you can hear his use of samplers, and a lot of elements from other songs worked in.
9 "Memento" - Art Of Noise [Into Battle] [1984]
A good transition piece. Trevor liked thunderclaps, it seems.
10 "It's Alright" - Pet Shop Boys [1989]
One of a few songs Trevor produced for Pet Shop Boys
11 "Rough Ride" - Paul McCartney [Flowers In The Dirt] [1989]
Yes, that Paul McCartney. One of the few songs on Flowers In The Dirt that doesn't sound like Elvis Costello, since he collabroated with Trevor on this one.
12 "Sentinel" - Mike Oldfield [Tubular Bells II] [1992]
On its own, it sounds like Mike Oldfield, but when it's in the context of the other Trevor Horn produced tracks, you can really tell his influence.
13 "Dreaming In Colour (feat. John Hurt)" - Art Of Noise [The Seduction Of Claude Debussy] [1999]
Modern Trevor Horn, but you can still hear his favorite themes still present.
14 "Comes And Goes" - Art Of Noise [Into Battle] [1983]
A good AON track to end on.
